Flipped Piggies to Four Messy Buns

Okay, so I saw the four messy buns somewhere, but where I thought it was...well, it wasn't. So, I am sorry to whoever came up with the four messy buns piled on top of her head, but if you happen upon my blog, let me know and I'll give you credit where it is due.

(Okay, so after searching and searching, I found this site where I first saw these buns. Also, this that looks a little more like what I was after.)

Anyway! So, for this one, I just separated the hair into four sections. I like a side part in the front, so I parted down the side and then cut over to the middle for the other sections. I hope this is making sense. So, after you get the four sections parted out, take the first section and do a small piggy and flip it so it heads toward where you will put the messy bun. Then, make the messy bun with the rest of that section. Put the elastic in as close to middle as possible, so when you are done, you get more of the one BIG messy bun look. Continue doing this with the other three sections. I think it looks pretty. I actually had one BIG flower in the middle of the four buns on my younger girly and I think I liked that better. Just didn't have a BIG flower that matched today's outift. Hope you like!

Twist into Wormy Buns

Okay, so this was a little "twist" on the wormy buns that everyone knows how to do, right? I just parted a deep side part and twisted and twisted and twisted etc. until it started to double and curl. I added that hair to one of the ponies and secured it all with an elastic. If you don't know how to do the wormy buns, just separate small pieces of hair and twist them until they start to double back on themselves. When you get it twisted as much as you want, secure it to the bun with a bobby pin. Continue to do this until all of the air is twisted up into the bun. (I guess you could leave some of it down if you like, but my little Marianne barely has enough hair to get a good bun in the first place!) Anyhow, that's it! Good luck! Let me know what ya think!

A Fantastic Giveaway!

Go to Jackie and Kassies Sweet Hair Dos and enter her giveaway. I NEED those black and pink bows. So go and tell her I sent you!

Try, Try Again...and Succeed!

Alright, everyone! Today is a Saturday which means that BYU plays. In fact, they play UCLA...one of the hardest games of the season. So, to show our Cougar Pride, we dolled up all the kids and decked them out in Cougar attire. I have been wanting to try these hairstyles I have seen on another blog, so here goes!

Top Twist (as seen here)

I have liked this hairstyle afor a long time but hadn't tried it. Today, Marianne asked if she could have curly hair (with the curling iron), but I wanted to keep her hair out of her face. Gotta save the face paint, right? So, I tried it and LOVED it! Super simple and very cute!

Twist Braid

Okay, so I have seen these twist braids all over the place and have tried to no avail to get them to work for my girls' hair. But, just the other day the sweet mom at "The Story of a Princess and Her Hair" did a video tutorial and that did it! I tried it this morning on Alli and it worked! Woohoo! Thank you! Thank You!! Thank You!!!

Some Real KNOTty Hair!

So, I have been stealing WAY to many ideas lately, so I thought I would try to come up with something on my own. So, here's my latest attempt. Now, I have no way of knowing what's already out there (save it be searching for hours on the internet for said hairdos) so if you've seen it, let me know and I'll be sure to give them some props!

KNOTty Pigs to Messy Buns

This one was pretty simple. I just started with two little piggies in the front. Then, I separated those into two pieces and tied them together a bunch of times. Then, I had Marianne hold it while I pulled up the hair for the bun. Then, I added the line of knots and finished it up.

KNOTty Buns

Another simple one. Just pull up two ponies and separate them into two sections and tie knots to the end. Then, I secured the knotted pony with a tiny elastic. Then I did this to make it a bun. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Top French Twist to Messy Buns

I saw this and wondered what it would look like to take it into two messy buns. I have to say that I thought it turned out beautifully! I just parted out a square and french twisted it. I had her hair laying forward so that the twist rolled to the back (does that make sense?). Then, I just finished the twist off with a small elastic and took the end of it into the messy bun on the right. Sweet and simple.
