Big BOOF-itul Curls

I have seen the "hair headband" on quite a few blogs, but I can't do the normal one because my girls' hair is still too short. So, when I saw THIS, I was so excited to try it out! I just made a side part and did small sections of hair down the side of her head to the back. I joined both sides of her hair together at the nape of her neck with one elastic. But, I am thinking to distribute the hair more evenly, I would keep the two ending piggies separate in the back. So, after I got the headband done, I curled. Then, I curled. After that, I curled some more. You get the idea. It turned out pretty big and poofy, but some days are good for that right? To see what curling iron I used go HERE.

P.S. If anyone has tips on keeping curls in all day, I would LOVE you for sharing them. I used hairspray, but her hair was about half this size by naptime! HELP!!!

I have something to share with you all, but it is being patented right now, so I can't tell, but it will be up soon, as in it will last all day and even the next day too. Can't wait to share it with you.

They have some stuff at Sally's that you can buy. It's a spray you put on it before you fix the hair. I think the line of hair product is Big Sexy Hair. If you ask the ladies in there I'm sure they could lead you in the right direction. Anyways, you spray that on and then curl and the curls last all day. My daughter's hair doesn't hold curls in very well and I got this and it works fantabulously!! Oh, and your dd is gorgeous, btw!!

There is also a spray by Redken called Hot Sets. It is a thermal heating spray that you can spray on wet or dry hair before you style. But really, if you go into Sally's and look for any thermal heat spray, it would probably work just fine. What I love is the curls are not all crunchy and stiff either. They are still soft! Good luck!

Someone at my church puts egg whites on her little girls hair instead of gel. I works great and the curls stay forever. Good luck!

Egg whites work but get really sticky and the hair gets stiff much more stiff than gel. While hair is wet put gel, mouse or some sort of thermal serum on or all 3. Once dry I do curls by layers put gel and hairspray on the piece I'm curling. My mom discovered this method when my sister and I were young. I have hair that has always held curl beautifully but not her. Mom had to put so much product on my sister's hair. Don't be afraid of product it will protect the hair and keep the curl. Product is a lot better for hair now too. Hope this helps!

There are some awesome curlers at Sally's but I don't remember their name. You stick hook through it, grab the hair with the hook and pull it through the spiral shaped curler and dry the hair. I did this in my hair and it stayed all day, and my hair NEVER holds curl from a curling iron for more than an hour. Good luck!

Just discovered putting cheap white shaving foam on hair before rolling it in curlers helps.

Looks like you have had a lot of suggestions on this post and I know it is old, but I always like new advise:) My daughter has super-soft, almost curly hair. When I curl her hair, I wrap her hair around the curling iron starting at the top rather than rolling it up from the bottom. Also, I apply a fair amount of mudd/putty/pomade and a quick mist of flexible hairspray before curling. Then when all the hair is curled I have her lean upside down and lightly spray everything again. This worked so well for Christmas Eve that she woke up with curls still in her hair!
